Saturday 10th November
There will be street closures supporting a get-together for both villages with music, period and modern food, hot chocolate, fund raiser stalls, information stalls, period dress code and a fun fair from 2.30 pm. At sunset (4.30 pm) there will be a beacon lighting ceremony with all our Tommies present, who will then be taken off to the Churches and Chapel for the night. This event will include closing School Street and South Street with a focus on Coronation Green and Horse River Green.
At 5 pm the focus will then move to All Saints Church for a concert of words and music. This will feature the Wimbish Military Wives Choir, the choir of Great Chesterford Primary Academy and a community choir formed especially for this event. The concert will include readings from that vast canon of war poetry. The concert will last between an hour and 90 minutes.
On Sunday 11th November
There will be the normal Act of Remembrance at each Church and Chapel which will be attended by the silhouettes.
Please watch out for more information about this weekend in due course.
